The ASUS RT-AX52 is an affordable dual-band WiFi 6 extendable router designed for home internet, streaming, online learning, remote work, smart-home devices and everyday gaming.

It offers a combined theoretical wireless speed of approximately 1800Mbps, comprising up to 574Mbps on the 2.4GHz band and 1201Mbps on the 5GHz band. WiFi 6 technologies including OFDMA, MU-MIMO, 1024-QAM, BSS Coloring and beamforming help improve network efficiency when several compatible devices are connected.

The RT-AX52 can operate as a standalone router or form part of an ASUS AiMesh system for expanded whole-home WiFi coverage. It also supports WPA3 security, built-in VPN functions, ASUS Instant Guard, parental scheduling and management through the ASUS Router mobile application.

AX1800 Dual-Band WiFi 6

The RT-AX52 broadcasts separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi networks.

The 2.4GHz band is useful for longer-range connections and smart-home devices, while the 5GHz band generally offers faster performance for streaming, downloads and nearby devices.

AX1800 is the combined theoretical capacity of both bands. It is not a guaranteed speed for one device or internet connection. ASUS confirms the individual band rates on the official RT-AX52 specifications page.

WiFi 6 Network Efficiency

WiFi 6 is designed to provide better performance in homes containing multiple connected devices.

OFDMA

OFDMA divides a wireless channel into smaller resource units, allowing the router to communicate more efficiently with several compatible devices.

This can be useful when smartphones, televisions, computers, security cameras and smart-home devices are active simultaneously.

MU-MIMO

MU-MIMO allows simultaneous communication with multiple compatible wireless clients instead of serving every device entirely one at a time.

1024-QAM

1024-QAM increases the amount of data carried by the wireless signal under suitable conditions. The client device must support compatible WiFi technology, and the strongest performance normally requires a good signal.

BSS Coloring

BSS Coloring helps the router distinguish its wireless traffic from transmissions generated by nearby networks using the same channel. This may improve efficiency in apartments and other areas containing many WiFi networks.

Beamforming and Four External Antennas

The RT-AX52 uses four external antennas and beamforming technology to direct wireless energy toward compatible connected devices.

For improved coverage, the router should be positioned:

• Above floor level
• Away from metal cabinets
• Away from microwave ovens
• Away from thick concrete walls where possible
• With sufficient ventilation around the casing

Actual range varies depending on the building, interference, router placement and client-device antenna quality.

ASUS AiMesh Extendable Networking

The RT-AX52 supports ASUS AiMesh and can function as either the main AiMesh router or an AiMesh node.
